Bookhaul- thrift shop edition.

While being in the same town in thailand last year I found two big and wonderful 2nd hand book stores. The concept was that the tourists left their books there and that other people would be able to buy those for cheaper prices.

Today while thinking of buying some books I saw that the stores were closed and not a single book was left. Imagine a room with as many books as possible, with not much space to walk at.

I asked an old lady that I’ve come to know who’s living here in Thailand and she plainly told me it’s because of that everyone reads on their tablets or Ereaders nowadays. I asked what they did with the books, and she told me they burned them (!) because they took up to much SPACE.

Sure I love eReaders, but what about the traditions? What about the SOLID feel of a real book? But seriously, burn the books. Wow, I’m not okay with that. At all.

Oh well, I will just tap my life away then.

Carpe diem.

The ordinary plan was to meet up my folks at the airport for departure to Thailand next week, but instead I’m packing to go to my hometown and stay there the upcoming week.

They think I will have a big examination tomorrow afternoon, while I will in fact be on the plane to them.

My plan is to casually ring their doorbell and be like " hello, I was wondering if you wanted a hug from your daughter you haven’t seen in months ?"

My mother has been on an operation and am home, in bed rest. Totally bored. This will probably brighten her day.

I hope.

Soon I’m off to thailand. Countdown: 7 days.

What better to do than stay inside on a sunny day and study politics?

By then I knew that everything good and bad left an emptiness when it stopped. But if it was bad, the emptiness filled up by itself. If it was good you could only fill it by finding something better.
